Die Stiftungstätigkeit des Berliner Verlegers Rudolf Mosse (1843-1920( für das Ägyptische Museum Berlin

Die Zahl der durch den Berliner Presse-Tycoon Rudolf Mosse an das ägyptische Museum Berlin gestifteten Objekte beläuft sich auf mehr als 700, darunter so prominente Stücke wie der grüne Königskopf des "Amasis" (äM 11864). Die überwiegende Mehrheit davon wurde von dem ägyptologen Heinrich Brugsch (1827-1894) während einer durch Mosse finanzierten ägyptenreise im Jahr 1891/92 erworben. Dem Katalog einiger ausgewählter Objekte vorangestellt informieren umfangreiche Essays nationaler und internationaler Experten über Hintergründe zu "Jüdischem Mäzenatentum" und dem Antikenhandel in ägypten um 1900. Der in Zusammenarbeit mit dem Moses Mendelssohn Zentrum für europäisch-jüdische Studien in Potsdam erstellte Sammelband soll einen Beitrag dazu leisten, dass Rudolf Mosse und seine Familie, deren Kunstsammlung 1934 versteigert wurde, nicht nur als "Opfer" des Nationalsozialismus, sondern auch als überaus großzügige Förderer Berliner Museen in Erinnerung bleiben.
