La Porta di Istar, riccamente decorata, costituiva uno degli accessi all’antica città di Babilonia e fu fatta costruire dal re babilonese Nabucodonosor II nel VI sec. a.C. Durante l‘annuale Festa di Capodanno le processioni con le divinità attraversavano questa porta per giungere nel centro della città. Secondo quali procedure i babilonesi realizzarono questi mattoni brillanti? Quale significato avevano gli animali divini (leone, drago e toro)?
